Minutes from the December meeting were approved.

Treasurer Report:

CCA has approximately $6000 in the bank. The note and Thanksgiving Fund were discussed with the membership (starting balance $40).

Old business:

Carole Tolchin presented the logo design used for the Allied Arts advertising materials, and explained why each symbol / color was chosen. The option to all members to submit a design for the logo was opened to the membership. Members have until the March meeting to submit a design, at which time the official CCA design will be selected by member vote.

Committee Reports:

Glaze group: Next meeting will be Friday, 02/15/13, 6:30 PM at 403 So. 7th. Potluck.


  • Schack Arts Center in Everett, WA. - under discussion, no update yet.

  • Jansen Arts Center – no discussion

  • Eddie at RiverClay Gallery (513 S. 1st St.) in Mt. Vernon: host “The Cup that Cheers”. Unsold pieces returned by Dinah. Thank you Eddie for the show!

  • Kathy H. will explore the possibility of a future Arts, Alive! La Conner show with the selection committee. - No update.

  • Allied Arts, Bellingham WA – theme: “Go, Figure!”

  • Details of show participation and entry form distributed, collection of $15 fee

  • Postcards for advertising show delivered by Carole Tolchin – thank you Carole!

  • Scholarship silent auction approved by membership. Artist is to bring a piece to the show with exibit pieces, value price on item, note as auction piece. Items not sold as part of the auction will be returned to the participant.

Workshops: Vince Pitelka worshop planned for 7/20 & 7/21. Another opportunity for a 5-day workshop hosted by AnnMarrie July 15 – 19 had 2 seats remaining. AnnMarie sent out a note on this – respond directly to her if you are interested.

Report of Tip Toland workshop by Makiko – thank you Makiko for organizing a fabulous workshop! The CCA Web site will have photos and notes posted from the workshop, so check it out!

Member Announcements:

Multiple members announced upcoming events. “Member Events” page added to the CCA Website. Members to send announcement information by email ready to publish with:

Event, participating member full name, dates, description, Web Links to event.

Two week advance notice required to get the event on the Web site. Send the information to: ceramicvisions@nwfirst.com.

New Business

Eddie Kelley discussed the opportunity to plan / participate in his River Clay Studio co-op in Mt. Vernon. Interested members should attend the planning meeting at Dinah Steveni's home. Sign up sheet was circulated – Eddie to notify CCA membership of meeting date / time.


Greg Tate presented “how to prepare for a member critique”. Greg will be one of the first members to actually walk through the critique process at our next meeting. Phoenix and Roger will also present their art in the February meeting for member critique – each critique to last 5 – 7 minutes. Sara volunteered for April.

Thank you Greg for an informative presentation on the components of a critique.
